Adjusting Near-Focus Blades on Collimators on X-Ray System

May 13, 2019 | Tech Tips, Radiography, Siemens

In this tip Kevin discusses how to adjust the near focus blades on current Siemens Collimators. In this example he is on a Siemens Ysio X-ray system.

Hi, this is Kevin from DirectMed Imaging with another tech tip. If you notice cutoff on your images after installing a new collimator, it could be due to a bent near-focus blade. These blades can sometimes get slightly bent during installation.

  1. Inspect the Blades
  • Check if any blade has been pushed or bent into the X-ray field.

2. Adjust by Hand

    • Carefully bend or adjust the blade back to the correct position.
    • Use a gauge tool to verify that the blade is set at the proper distance to avoid image cutoff.

    3. Re-test

Once adjusted, take a test exposure to ensure that the cutoff issue is resolved.Have questions about this tip or any of our other Tech Tips? Please contact us and we will be happy to help you!
