Many have asked us: “what is needed for a successful mammography system installation?“
There are four phases in the mammography machine installation process. In the below, we will guide you through all the phases so you know exactly what you get if you choose to get installation with us.
So, let us get into it!
This first step is crucial for planning out a successful and smooth mammography machine installation. Without a site evaluation you would be going into the the project blindly – it would be a huge mistake.
What we need from you to make this evaluation, is:
These must be according to the OEM site preparation manual.
Note: We will not start the actual installation process until we can conclude that the site is or can be ready to handle the mammography machine.
Depending on the site readiness, the pre-installation phase can take anywhere from 5 days to several months.
Of course, whether we have your desired mammo in stock also plays a role when it comes to the timeline.
During the pre-installation phase we work out a realistic project schedule, in which we focus on:
Should any element not live up to the OEM standards, we can ensure it is corrected before moving onto the installation.

As mentioned, you as the customer have a certain responsibility when it comes to ensuring a properly prepared imaging room. This includes, for example, securing a good power supply and providing a clear access point to deliver the mammography machine.

6 key factors to consider:
When you have ensured that the room fully lives up to the OEM standards, we can plan a confirmation visit if needed. During such visit we can check whether the site/room is ready to receive the mammo.
Otherwise, we will follow the site preparation and supervise by email or phone.
When we deem the room fully ready, our technician will arrive and start the installation process.
This includes:

Avoid any additional costs due to delays
Please keep in mind that if any major changes are needed during or after the initial room preparation, the installation could be delayed.
The room needs to be 100% ready before our technicaion arrives to do the installation.
Should it happen that our technician arrivies at site to an unfinished room, you will be charged any extra costs that might occur. Like extra travel cost.
At the end-stage of the mammography machine installation our technician only has a few more things to do.
Note: all projects and sites are different, so some of the above may not be relevant to yours.
This will be clarified by your Key Account Manager and the project team.

Installing a mammography system is more than simply placing it in a room and plugging it in.
In fact, it can be a complex process.
You have to take into consideration all the prep work you need to take care of beforehand. Like site planning, transportation details, and the logistics of the actual installation – even choosing the right machine for your needs.

How long does it take to do a mammography machine installation?
One day of work. This, of course, is only if the site and room is fully prepared for the installation to take place. But, generally, doing the actual installation or setting up the mammo, is fairly fast.
The pre-installation process is where the time adds up.
Will my facility need any renovations before installation?
In many cases, yes, you will have to renovate prior to installing a mammography system. How much, depends.
Maybe you already have a mammography room and only need to exchange the system for a newer one. In this case, you may have to make a few minor changes to accommodate the new machine – perhaps the electricals requires replacement.
If you do not have a mammography examination room already, it is necessary to make arragements for updating electricals, room shielding, power supply, installation of UPS if needed, and adding stabilized flooring.
Who is responsible for machine calibration and quality assurance after installation?
Our on-site technician is responsible for the calibration and quality assurance. This is done during the final steps of the mammography machine installation.
They make sure to do the calibration and any necessary adjustments to your new system.
Of course, this is done according to OEM instructions and manuals.
When our technician leaves your facility, the mammo will be fully functional and up and running.
What happens if there are any installation delays?
Should it happen that the site is not ready when our technician arrives at site to do the installation, the cost for any added travel expenses will be added to your overall installation cost.
Therefore, proper site preparation and -evaluation is crucial to decrease risk of delays in the installation process.
Delays can be costly and highly inconvenient.
Is training included with the installation package?
When we do installation projects, we make sure to do a system demonstration with you. However, if you or your staff need any further application training, please contact the OEM.
